About the Item

A handsome and most decorative French 19th century Belle Époque period Neo-Grec st. black Belgian Marble and Ormolu centerpiece, attributed to F. Barbedienne. This exceptional circular centerpiece is raised by four scrolling decorated legs with a pair of pawed feet and a lions bust on the top cap. The circular mottled edge Ormolu support holds the top plate above. The black Belgian marble top plate is decorated with a circular and wide Ormolu band containing a group of men and women performing various jobs in what seems to be a joyous manner. The black Belgian marble center is surrounded by an elaborate Ormolu band.
