About the Item

An elegant and most decorative French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu, Mirror and Crystal centerpiece. This attractive scallop shaped centerpiece is presented on a beautiful beveled mirrored plateau. The plateau is framed within a finely detailed Ormolu frame displaying berried laurel designs, a beaded band, and a reeded patterned band with crossing ribbons at each reserve. The Crystal centerpiece matching the shape of the plateau is mounted with an Ormolu frame showcasing a bottom section similar to the plateau with its beaded laurel designs and beaded band. The body of the centerpiece is tastefully decorated with swaging floral garlands that flank the central crest on both sides. This stunning circular centerpiece is raised on three rectangular Ormolu block supports with mottled socle shaped bases that support the highly detailed legs. These three blocks surround a most elaborately decorated diamond shaped cut crystal central platform. The centerpiece has three beautifully scrolled legs with handsome pawed feet and lovely interlocking geometric bands. These bands lead up to exceptional and richly chased maidens with lavish jewelry on their heads and neck. The three maidens flank the exceptional Ormolu and Crystal finial.
