About the Item

The Description An exceptionally rare and monumental Murano glass centerpiece by the esteemed Italian Maestro, Giovanni Dalla Fina, created circa 1980. This spectacular piece transcends typical glass artistry, presenting itself as a refined sculptural vessel and a magnificent testament to the enduring genius of Venetian craftsmanship. The form suggests a stylized, blooming water lily or "Fior di Loto," characterized by its commanding diameter of nearly 47 cm and an elegant, low-profile bowl. It embodies the transition from the Mid-Century aesthetic into the sophisticated, textural luxury favored in the early 1980s. Artistry and Finish The surface is distinguished by the complex and highly desirable Iridescent Scavo finish. This intricate technique imbues the glass with a breathtaking, aged, and slightly rough texture—reminiscent of ancient Roman glass recovered from the sea. Color Texture: The glass body reveals a subtle, warm amber/gold tone, while the Scavo treatment creates an ethereal, rainbow-like iridescence across the surface, shimmering with soft blues, greens, and pinks depending on the light and viewing angle. Form: The wide, flaring rim is masterfully worked a caldo (hot-worked) and gently crimped, enhancing the organic, petal-like structure and ensuring a commanding visual presence that is nonetheless graceful and flowing. This centerpiece is a hallmark of Dalla Fina’s work—a synthesis of classical Italian artistry and modernist scale. Its impressive size makes it an incomparable object for a grand dining table, a minimalist console, or as the crowning jewel in a curated collection of Murano glass. A piece of museum-quality distinction that will instantly elevate any luxury interior.
