About the Item

A most elegant and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Epoque Period Rouge Griotte marble and Ormolu centerpiece, attributed to F. Barbedienne. This stunning centerpiece, which is most likely by Barbedienne, is raised by a square Rouge Griotte base with an ogee edge all atop an Ormolu plate. Above is the circular socle supporting the urn with an outer cabochon band and a top spiral fluted design. The handsome marble body is flanked by two Ormolu handles decorated by acanthus leaves and foliate scrolls with berries at each end. The top rim of the urn has an impressive egg and dart Ormolu band and Ormolu interior lining.
