About the Item

Nickel-plated brass placeholder. The placeholder is square in shape and resting on a recessed base with scalloped cutouts. The placeholder is stamped 'Ruhlmann' and numbered. Provenance : Ancienne collection Louis-Hippolyte Boileau. Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) was a French furniture designer and interior decorator and one of the most important and influential figures of the Art Deco movement, even considered by some the godfather of French Art Deco. His designs are characterized through elegance and purity of form, made with precious materials and expert craftsmanship, combining luxuriousness with modernity.
