About the Item

This is a very good teapot stand made by Mason's Ironstone when they were owned by Ashworth Brothers in the 19th century, circa 1880 Teapot stand's by Mason's Ironstone are rare items. This stand is nominally 6 inches square and stands on four small bun feet, all made to support a tea pot or small tureen. The pattern is hand painted and gilded over-glaze with typical bold enamels, decorated with a central flower and rock pattern and a three part outer Imari type border. The base carries the impressed Ashworths mark and the pattern number B4974 hand painted in red. A good piece with many practical uses as a stand.
