About the Item

Modernist set of 2 majolica bowls features complex sculptural shapes and abstract leaves decor on pink background glaze. The larger bowl is sculpted with scalloped edge and intricate bow handles; the smaller bowl has more streamlined silhouette with gently rounded rim. White and gold palette of the leaves decor stands out against soft, but powerful coral pink background, and gold trim on rims and handles unifies the composition. The larger bowl is signed in Londi's own hand with his distinctive 'Ztaly' mark; the smaller bowl is marked with the regular Bitossi mark, and both bowls are marked with model/decor numbers. The set is in good vintage condition with a couple of age-appropriate small fleabites on the glaze on rims that are not visually obvious or distracting, but can be located by touch. Both bowls are missing the distributor labels, but they were probably created for either Raymor or Rosenthal Netter. Sculptural Mid Century Modern bowls with Organic Modern style influence, distinguished with elegant form, high quality craftsmanship, and statement piece presence, will make a great gift to a collector or design enthusiast and a perfect addition to a wide range of interiors, from Traditional to Modernist, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Glam, Grand Millennial, Organic Modern, Collected, or Contemporary. Size are: 1) 10.07" by 9" by 2.32" high 2) 8" by 8.07" by 2.07" high
