About the Item

An original Art Deco ceramic candy dish produced by Crown Ducal in Staffordshire, England, circa 1930s. This English pottery piece features a soft triangular form with scalloped edges and rests on three rounded feet—a modern and restrained silhouette that echoes the refined geometry typical of the Art Deco period. The glaze is a gentle buttermilk cream, finished in a smooth satin-matte texture. While unsigned by hand, the dish is likely associated with Charlotte Rhead, whose work for Crown Ducal often explored innovative ceramic forms, though this example is notably restrained in decoration—perhaps intended for more functional, everyday use. A fine example of 1930s British ceramic design, this small dish is stamped with the Crown Ducal backstamp to the underside. Measuring approximately 20 cm in diameter and 5 cm in height, it is in very good vintage condition with minimal wear appropriate to age. Versatile in use—ideal as a vintage sweet dish, trinket bowl, or vide-poche—this piece bridges historical craftsmanship and contemporary interior styling with ease.
