About the Item

This set is an amazing example of the brilliance of Mr. Langbein's talent. The set of six individual Italian bowls, resemble the texture and look of a real baked potato. The color is perfect and even the finish of the ceramic resembles a rough potato skin! Mr. Langbein's work is collected by museums all-over the world. He had a shop in America, but designed in Italy. We have a LARGE collection of Mr. Langbein's work at our North Palm Springs showroom. Most all are the best examples of his work, that are in museums all over the world. Please check out addition pieces on separate 1stdibs listings. American industrial designer Ed E. Langbein was a designer who produced his own lines of ceramic and glass decorative items and tableware through his company, Edward E. Langbein Giftware in Brooklyn, NY. He operated between the late 1930's and early 60's. He did no manufacturing of his own but had his designs produced in Europe, mostly Italy and Germany.

Pair of Italian Modern Artist Studio Matte Bisque Pottery Fruit Lamps w/ Shades
By Fantoni, Marcello Fantoni
Located in Palm Springs, CA
A really beautiful and rare pair of high end Mid-Century Modern lamps made in Italy in the 1950s. Matte bisque natural white color with black bases. Newly rewired with new cords and high end bronze color double sockets. Each lamp has four sides with hand-carved fruits and leaves. apple, lemons, grapes and pears. These lamps are a great example of Italian Mid-Century design. These lamps were probably made in the factory of Fantoni and designed by Marcelo Fantoni, but we can not verify attribution. They are auction worthy lamps, and a wonderful example of the amazing arisans that made lamps that were more works of art sculptures than a plug in lamp...
