About the Item

Elegant and very modern, this 1920s dish by the famed Molaroni ceramic works in Pesaro, just east of San Marino on the Adriatic coast, is further proof of the movement of many Italian artists from traditional to more stylized designs in the 1920s. Of course, Gio Ponti led the way, working for Ginori, but others did brilliant work as well, including Angelo Simonetto for the Galvani ceramic works in Pordenone, Guido Andlovitz for Societa Ceramica company in Laveno, and others. The Molaroni firm is largely known for its majolica work, so this piece is a highly unusual exception. It is marked on the reverse.
