About the Item

A vintage Chinese decorative charger plate, crafted in the late 20th-century in the Qianlong revival style. The hand-painted porcelain features a vivid polychrome palette of cobalt blue and yolk-yellow enamels. At the centre, a green dragon winds among pomegranates and stylised floral motifs, surrounded by four male children positioned between vignettes bearing the characters for "Blessings and Wealth." The design incorporates rich Chinese symbolism: the green dragon represents harmony, natural balance, and wealth; pomegranates signify fertility and happiness; and the four sons embody family continuity and prosperity. These motifs reflect Daoist and Buddhist traditions, unified in a composition conveying abundance and good fortune. The bright yellow border, adorned with repeated pomegranate imagery, frames the highly detailed central scene. Measuring 27 cm in diameter, the plate remains in very good vintage condition, suitable for display. An excellent example of late 20th-century Chinese decorative porcelain drawing on Qing dynasty designs and symbolism.
