About the Item
This is a very beautiful porcelain saucer made by a French Old Paris maker, dating to the early 19th century, circa 1810.
The saucer is very well painted "en grisaille" with a deer running across rocks with mountains faintly in the background. The rim is painted in gold gilt. There are no marks to the base.
Notes:
Grisaille is French meaning 'greyed', from gris 'grey' and refers to a painting style executed entirely in shades of grey or possibly brown.
Overall a very distinctive, beautifully decorated saucer.
