About the Item

This French possibly faience dish features a distinctive scalloped edge with hand-painted decoration. The central scene depicts a finely dressed courting couple in 18th-century attire, seated beneath a tree in a pastoral setting.Surrounding the central vignette are vibrant floral sprays, including roses, tulips, and wildflowers, all painted in rich, colorful detail. The reverse bears the hand-painted mark "Marseille," referencing the historic French faience production centers of Marseille, known for their hand-decorated earthenware during the 18th and 19th centuries. The glaze shows expected age-related craquelure, consistent with antique faience. With its combination of Rococo-inspired romantic imagery and vibrant floral decoration, this piece reflects the decorative traditions of Southern France and would make an elegant wall display, cabinet piece, or table accent. Vintage condition as pictured. Listing is for described item only. Dimensions: 9.75"L, 9.5"W, 1.25"H Box S17
