About the Item

This is an early porcelain trio comprising a vertically fluted coffee can, tea cup and saucer, all in a hand painted and gilded pattern, which we attribute to Coalport, John Rose Co., Shropshire, England, made late in the 18th century, George 111rd period, circa 1790-1800. All the pieces are well potted and vertically fluted with a slight wavy edge. All the pieces have a matching finely hand painted continuous upper border pattern with a pink flower bud and gilded leaves with further gilding to the rims, cup lower rims and outer handles. We cannot see any markings to the bases of these pieces but please note that the early John Rose Coalport Porcelain pieces like these are mostly unmarked and without a maker’s stamp. The fluted detail on these pieces and similar pieces in Michael Berthoud's boof; A Compendium of British Cups all point to a date of circa 1790-1800.

This is a very good quality TRIO of Coffee Cup, Tea Cup and Saucer that we attribute to the Coalport porcelain works, Shropshire, England, made during the George 111rd years, circa 1815. Both cups have the London or Grecian shape with all pieces beautifully boldly hand decorated in a very colourful Imari Chinoiserie pattern, popular at the time. All pieces are unmarked to the base. The pattern is beautifully hand painted in bold colors of burnt orange, green and cobalt blue, all in different shades with an "Imari" style floral pattern, all enhanced with gilded detail to the pattern, upper rim and outer handle.
