About the Item

Impressive Goldscheider Vienna Ceramic Figurine of the 1920s: The young lady with artfully pinned-up hair is wearing only transparent, hold-up stockings and high-heeled shoes, as well as a headdress densely decorated with turquoise-green shaded feathers, a green-turquoise cloth that reaches to the floor and whose front is decorated with colourful geometric patterns and stylised flowers in shades of turquoise, brown and yellow, covers the well-formed body at her back. She bends forward slightly, guiding the back of her left hand to her chin and looking towards the floor with her eyes almost closed. The figure is based on a tiered round base in light yellow and brown with lateral faceting, the artist's signature ‘THOMASCH’ and the model number on the back of the base. Designed by WILHELN THOMASCH (1893 - 1964), who was an academic sculptor and ceramic artist, operations manager at Goldscheider Vienna, from 1926 had his own production in Sierndorf. Thomasch designed this model circa 1922.
