About the Item
Elegant dance couple, performing a long dance step to the side: the leading figure with a black hat, red jacket with wide sleeves and matching red breeches hugs the dance partner from behind in a strapless, black and white lace dress with graduated flounces and puts the right hand on her hip to support her.
On a black oval flat base.
A contemporary photograph by the Berlin photographer Gregor Harlip with the representation of an unspecified dance couple, titled 'Russian Ballet', probably served as a template.

Josef Lorenzl (September 1, 1892 – August 15, 1950) was an Austrian sculptor and ceramicist of the Art Deco period, the same era as Ferdinand Preiss (1882–1943) and Demetre Chiparus (1886–1947).
