About the Item
A beautiful unique ceramic art piece by Kati Tuominen-Niittylä, one of the most prominent modern Finnish ceramic artists and a member of the iconic Arabia Art Department Society.
This beautiful black green floor vase is hand made and hand painted and is quite large with a wonderful earthly vibe; one that we can often see in KTN's ceramic works. With a diameter of about 50cm and a height of 37cm, this piece can be the only statement needed in a modern ceramic lover's interior. This piece is from the artists own collection and is stamped with her initials.
About Kati Tuominen-Niittylä: KTN has created a remarkable career in ceramics. Tuominen-Niittylä has designed numerous tableware and objects for Arabia's selections, such as the Venice platter, the Storybirds collection and the KoKo tableware series in collaboration with Kristina Riska. Tuominen-Niittylä has also participated in the implementation of large-scale public artwork projects, such as the Gekko at the Kamppi subway entrance and the restoration of the facade of the National Theater facing the Kaisaniemi park in collaboration with Pekka Paikkari.
Kati Tuominen-Niittylä's works have been exhibited in many private and joint exhibitions in Finland and abroad. Her works are also part of prominent collection like the Röhsska Museum, Ulster Museum, Victoria
Albert Museum and New Ceramic Museum Tajimi, Japan.
Kati Tuominen-Niittylä has been awarded the Grand Prix, gold medal and honorable mentions in Mino's international ceramics competition, and the Formland prize in Denmark. The Storybirds collection designed by Tuominen-Niittylä for Arabia received the Design Plus award at Frankfurt's Ambiente fair in 1994. Tuominen-Niittylä received the Kaj Franck award in 2007 and the Pro Finlandia medal in 2018.
