Two vases model no. 3805 circa 1935 Earthenware moonstone glaze, concealed and shouldered form with horizontal ridge decoration. 19cm and 19.5cm high respectively, Printed factory factory marks with KM monograms Keith Murray was one of the most important and influential designers to work in the British ceramic and glass industry during the early part of the 20th Century. His ceramic collaborations with Wedgwood in particular have given him a lasting legacy and these pieces epitomise the art Deco period with their simple yet classic designs, representing modernism at its best. Few of Murray’s Queensware vases were suitable for mass-production, meaning that many pieces were hand thrown and finished on an engine-turned lathe to give the characteristic ridges we see on each piece.
