About the Item
Keith Murray Moonstone Galzed Vase by Wedgwood, Model Number 3842.
A large Earthenware, "moonstone" glaze vase , of tapering form with hand lathed ridge detail.
Impressed and printed factory marks with Keith Murray signature to base.
Keith Murray was one of the most important and influential designers to work in the British ceramic and glass industry during the early part of the 20th Century.
His ceramic collaborations with Wedgwood in particular have given him a lasting legacy and these pieces epitomise the art Deco period with their simple yet classic designs, representing modernism at its best.
Few of Murray’s Queensware vases were suitable for mass-production, meaning that many pieces were hand thrown and finished on an engine-turned lathe to give the characteristic ridges we see on each piece.
