Rare Viennese Art Déco ceramic figurine:
Young, pretty dancer with blonde, curly hair posing in a short, see-through costume, barefoot on tiptoes in a step position, her upper body turned to the side and leaning backwards, her eyes closed, her front arm raised and her
hand touching her hair, her back arm extended under one of the long trains attached to the back of her costume, so that the fabric glides down to the floor like a butterfly wing.
On a black stepped oval base.
Designed by RUDOLF PODANY (1876 - 1963), who was an Austrian sculptor and ceramist, was a pupil of Johannes Benk for one and a half years, then studied for four years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and attended the
specialised school for sculpture for a further five years, worked for the Schauer porcelain manufactory for ten years and from 1920 for the Viennese company Keramos, of which he was a commander.
