About the Item

A small vintage Korean black glazed and blue and white octagonal faceted earthenware bowl is probably from the mid 20th Century. The contrast between the dark brown glaze and the blue and white design is striking. The bowl is of octagonal section, the black body decorated on the inside with blue and white circular medallions with foliage and small circular medallions with wave motifs to the sides is the dominant art. The technique, color and glaze are assoicated with the Han period in Korean art. The piece is unmarked. The bowl is 3 inches tall and 6.375 inches in diameter. This is a unique piece and it is in very good condition wihthout chips or cracks or any other condition issues.
