About the Item
A five gallon American Stoneware Crock sourced in Pennsylvania. A fine example of 19th-century American stoneware, this 5-gallon crock features a striking cobalt blue floral motif typical of the period's skilled potters. The salt-glazed surface, sturdy form and repeat cobalt blue decoration showcase the craftsmanship and utilitarian beauty that make early American stoneware so highly collectible. A wonderful addition for anyone seeking 1800s craftsmanship with both decorative and historic charm.
There is a firing crack (done in the making of the crock) to the top rim and an area of loss to the body due to the firing flaw, otherwise in good condition.
