About the Item
Scheurich produced this ceramic vase during West Germany's golden age of art pottery, marked '401-35' on the base. The piece exemplifies the experimental approach to form and glaze that characterized German ceramic production from the 1950s through 1970s. Scheurich, one of over 100 manufacturers active during this period, developed distinctive glazing techniques that set their work apart from contemporaries like Bay Keramik, Ruscha, and Ü-Keramik.
The cylindrical form features a single curved handle and two-tone glaze treatment. Light gray glazing covers the body while brown tones define the rim, neck, and handle, with characteristic drip effects where colors meet. The matte finish and clean lines reflect Mid-Century design principles applied to functional ceramic vessels.
Shows wear consistent with age and use.
