About the Item

We are pleased to offer for sale a handcrafted ceramic appetizer tray produced between the 1950s and 1960s by the renowned ceramic manufacturer Rometti. The historic Rometti workshop, founded in the late 1920s, is a cornerstone of Italian ceramic art. It has created true works of art while also producing tableware with the same care and mastery. Rometti is particularly known for its Futurist ceramics designed by Dante Baldelli and Corrado Cagl—pieces that earned numerous accolades, including the gold medal at the International Exhibition in Nice and several awards at the Triennale di Milano. Over the years, Rometti has collaborated with major figures of Italian design such as Leoncillo Leonardi, Ambrogio Pozzi, Liliane Lijn, Sergio Fiorentino, and Ugo La Pietra. Since its reopening in 2012, the company continues to produce remarkable contemporary art pieces. The item we are offering is a mid-20th-century modern piece: an elegant and playful glazed-terracotta aperitif tray molded with six small built-in bowls and two elongated compartments for snacks. The tray is entirely hand-painted with charming designs that look as if they came straight out of a school notebook and were drawn with colored pencils—minimalist, unmistakably 1950s, yet incredibly fresh and cool today. Carrots, hard-boiled eggs, salted anchovies, and classic Italian chili-stuffed olives each appear neatly in their dedicated space. The piece is intact and in very good vintage condition, and it bears the Rometti signature and “Italy” on the back. The item is in good vintage conditions, it show minimal sign of use and age.

Italian Handcrafted Mid Century Modern Decorative Dish in Raku Style Ceramic
Located in Roma, IT
Large handcrafted ceramic centerpiece dating back to the 1970s. Of certain Italian production but of unknown manufacture, this large plate shows a signature engraved on the base consisting of two intertwined letters "FS" that we have not been able to attribute to a ceramist or a manufacturer. the design of this centerpiece is essential, with an almost primitive shape that appears as a large bowl with low edges. The surface is rough and textured on the outside and very smooth with a crackle effect on the inside recalling Japanese Raku ceramics...
