About the Item

Emblazoned with its trademark rook in bas relief glazed in dark blue, this footed tile or trivet was made by the famed Rookwood company in Cincinnati. The rook is set off by an interlacing geometric figuration in the Chinese manner, glazed in blue and white. Rookwood was the largest and most successful art pottery in America for several decades, producing artistic wares from the late 19th century into the 1950s. Best known for its Arts and Crafts pieces in the early 20th century, the company also produced fine Art Deco ware into the 1940s. The trivet is fully marked and dated 1927.
