About the Item
A charming and visually engaging set of seven Finnish ceramic butter jars, voipytty, produced by Arabia between the early 1900s and the 1940s.
This group ranges from relatively large to small jars, creating a natural rhythm when displayed together. The jars feature a traditional white glaze with hand-painted blue floral motifs, each slightly varied, reflecting their handmade and utilitarian origins. Originally used for butter and food preservation, these vessels represent a time when everyday objects were made with care, clarity of purpose, and lasting quality.
All seven jars are in good vintage condition, with minor age-related wear consistent with use. No structural damage or restorations.
Today, these jars appeal both to collectors of Nordic ceramics and to those who wish to continue their functional life. They work equally well as kitchen or pantry storage, planters for herbs or small plants, decorative vessels or urns, or as a sculptural grouping on open shelving.
This set is offered as a group of seven.

A strong and authentic grouping of Finnish utilitarian ceramics with both historical presence and contemporary usability.
All pieces are in good vintage condition, showing light wear consistent with age and use. Most pieces stamped Arabia. The measurements are of the largest jar while the smallest measures 8.5cm in height x 14.5 X 12cm.
Founded in 1873, Arabia is Finland’s most important ceramic manufacturer and a cornerstone of Nordic material culture. Early utilitarian wares such as these butter jars formed the backbone of Arabia’s production, objects designed for everyday life, durability, and longevity long before Finnish design gained international recognition.
