About the Item
Small ceramic dish by Einar Johansen, produced by the Soholm workshop in Denmark in the 1960s. This highly decorative piece can be used as a small serving dish or aperitif dish, but also as a trinket dish. The depth of the blue is quite remarkable and the glaze plays beautifully with the light, with the reflections bringing out the slight relief. Einar Johansen was a Danish potter, particularly known for his work at Søholm Ceramics in Bornholm, where he was active from 1958 to 1966. During this period, he designed some of Søholm's most iconic and sought-after ceramic works. His designs were often caracterised by geometric patterns and distinctive colours such as blue and brown, typical of Søholm's production in the 1960s. Johansen's work included vases, bowls and lamps, all noted for their craftsmanship and unique details. Before coming to Søholm, Johansen had his own pottery production and created study pieces, which are still considered rare collector's items today.
