About the Item

Discover this rare 19th-century polychrome earthenware set, featuring a covered asparagus server with a matching platter. This French Barbotine asparagus server is a true collector's piece. Ingeniously designed, the bottom of the server has holes to allow excess water to drain onto the platter, ensuring a drip-free serving experience. The lid helps keep the vegetables warm while waiting to be served at the table. The three-piece design also makes cleaning a breeze. The artistic motif highlights asparagus, the vegetable for which this set was specially designed, with vibrant shades of green and eggplant that have remained bright thanks to the painting and glazing techniques used by renowned French ceramic masters. This piece is numbered "696 1" and marked "B," as referenced in *Artichauts et Asperges en Barbotine* by M. Botero, pages 26 and 28 (Éditions Massin, 2006). An exceptional item not to be missed by antique ceramics enthusiasts!
