Mado Jolain is renown French Ceramist active in the 1950s. The present vase is made of earthenware enameled creamy. The decor is an abstraction in tones of black a brownish red. She is considered as one of the great names of the mid century modern French school of ceramists. Her pieces are sought after and quite rare.
