About the Item
Beautiful polychrome, modeled English Staffordshire earthenware figurine of Louis Napoleon, on a base bearing the title Napoleon Bonaparte.
These figurines were very common from the 18th century onwards. The 19th-century Victorian figurine, circa 1850, depicts Louis Napoleon in a military uniform consisting of a tunic with epaulettes, breeches, and knee-high boots, with a sash across his chest and waist. In his right hand, he holds a tricorn hat, while his left hand rests on his hip.
This piece is an early version of the original mold.
Its condition is good for its age and use; the polychromy is vibrant and well-preserved.There is a small crack along the neck that is barely noticeable overall.
