About the Item

West German ceramic floor vase with circular loop handle and cylindrical form. Brown glaze covers geometric relief pattern of repeating diamond motifs arranged in vertical bands. Marked 1782/45 on base, indicating form number from West German pottery production. Manufactured during the 1960s-70s when West German ceramics gained international recognition for bold glazing techniques and architectural forms. Relief decoration method involved molding patterns into ceramic body before glazing, creating dimensional surface texture. Brown earth-tone glazes were achieved through iron oxide compounds, popular in this era of German studio pottery. Shows wear consistent with age and use. Original condition maintained.
