About the Item
This is a clear glass bowl that is decorated in silver with alternating images of a laurel wreath with a long bow, symbolizing triumph and an ornate image of a pair of griffins each with one paw on a large urn symbolizing guardianship. The intricate images are set between lovely bands of art nouveau style repeating patterns on the fine quality glass which has cut ribs on the bottom portion.
There are scratches on the very bottom and some of the silver is design is lost where it was soldered and there may be other minor signs of age and use. The bowl is 2 1/2 inches high and the top of the bowl is 6 1/2 inches in diameter but it is 7 inches in diameter to the bulge at the lower portion. There are hallmarks that I have photographed but I don't recognize them.
