This vibrant antique ceramic platter was crafted in Brittany, France, circa 1920, and exemplifies the lively spirit of Quimper faïence. Oval in shape with a scalloped rim, the tin-glazed earthenware piece is hand-painted with an elaborate Breton scene depicting villagers in traditional costume gathered in joyous celebration, dancing, conversing, and playing music in a lush countryside setting. Their colorful garments and expressive gestures convey the warmth and festivity of rural life in turn-of-the-century France.
