About the Item

An 18th-century Dutch Delft tin-glazed earthenware milking group, modeled as a standing cow with a seated milker at its side, decorated with cold-painted pigments applied after firing. The figure is formed on a rectangular grass-patterned base in line with mid-18th-century Delft models. Cold-painted decoration, applied after firing, remain on the cow and the milker, with possible of original floral details or color accents. The modeling follows typical Delft characteristics with defined proportions and a compact stance. This type corresponds to documented Delft milking groups from circa 1760, such as those sold by Christie’s from the Ann and Gordon Getty Collection. Comparable examples often show similar proportions, modeling style, and cold-painted surface treatment. The piece may originally have belonged to a matched pair. A representative example for collectors of Delftware figures and 18th-century European ceramics. Condition: Professional restoration to the ears and horns. Reglued corner to the base.
