About the Item

Set of three Dutch Delftware faience chinoiserie plates, mid-18th century. Each plate is hand-painted in cobalt blue on a white tin-glazed ground, reflecting the strong influence of Chinese Qianlong-period (1736–1795) export porcelain on European ceramics. The decoration follows a chinoiserie floral scheme: at the center a stylized flower spray with large blossoms and scrolling foliage, surrounded by smaller buds and leafy tendrils. The broad rim is divided into alternating cartouches filled with flowering branches and ornamental motifs. This arrangement directly recalls Qianlong blue-and-white porcelain designs, adapted to the Rococo taste and Delft faience tradition. While unmarked on the reverse, the glaze, tin-glazed earthenware body, and decorative repertoire are consistent with Delft workshops active during this period. Diameter approx. 23 cm (9 in).
