About the Item
The dish has a broad, gently sloping rim and is decorated in blue with a freely painted floral arrangement in a vase at the center, enclosed within a double circle. The rim is richly adorned with hand-painted flowers and leaves, applied entirely freehand. The decoration is based on floral decorations on Chinese porcelain from the period of the last Ming emperor Chongzhen (1628-1644). In the second half of the seventeenth century it was frequently painted on Dutch tin-glazed earthenware
The front is covered with a tin glaze, while the back features a lead glaze, a combination typical of Dutch (Frisian) maiolica.
Three stilt marks characteristic of this ware are visible on the surface.
Unmarked
Very good condition: Hardly any fritting to the rim. Minor wear to the glaze. Apart from the stilt marks are two damages to the glaze. wear consistent with age; Please look at the pictures to get a good impression.
