About the Item

This pair of large blue and white Dutch Delft plates, traditionally made as chargers, is hand-painted and marked by De Porceleyne Claeuw (The Claw) and was made in the Netherlands circa 1760. Each charger measures 14 inches in diameter and features a central urn overflowing with flowers, surrounded by concentric borders of scrolling vines and blossoms. The rich cobalt palette is complemented by lively brushwork with rhythmic energy. The lobed and barbed edges are painted dark blue, framing the composition beautifully. Impressive in both size and decoration, these chargers showcase the beauty and creativity of De Porceleyne Claeuw, one of Delft’s most celebrated factories.
