About the Item

City: Delft Date: second half of the 18th century A genuine set of two blue and white Dutch Delft plates. Hand-painted in cobalt blue on a white tin-glazed ground with the decoration of a married couple in a garden. Possibly inspired by the Chinese Qianlong Governor Duff plates. The rim is divided by cartouches of ornamental design. The diameter of the plates is approximately 22,5cm - 9 inches. The plates are in wonderful condition, with the normal superficial wear and small chips as can be expected for their age.
