About the Item
From the French faïencerie Creil et Montereau, a majolica glazed asparagus plate, circa 1880-1889.
Turquoise rimless plates show an oversized raised green cabbage leaf with purple topped asparagus spears behind the leaf at the top of the plate, and three overlapping asparagus spears crossing across the bottom of the plate, separating a deeper dipping sauce well.
Multiple plates are available, each glazed in varying intensity of color, as expected of pieces glazed by hand.
9.5 inches in Diameter x 1.25 inches High
All plates are in very good antique condition. One plate shows a shallow loss to the rear footing, not effecting the seating.
Allow us to choose for you, or let us know if you prefer a plate either lighter or more intense in coloring.
