About the Item

The plate, made of glazed terracotta and entirely hand-painted in Sicily, is part of the "Colapesce" collection, inspired by the Sicilian folk legend of the same name of "Colapesce," a half-man, half-fish creature who sacrificed his life to save his beloved Sicily. The stylized figures of sixteen yellow fish are intertwined against a blue background, evoking the depths of the Mediterranean Sea. In the center, four shells create a kind of elegant flower. The plate has holes in the back and is particularly suitable for wall decorations and table decor.

By deBlona
Located in Recanati, IT
Set of six majolica charger plates is handmade and hand-painted in Italy following the original Renaissance painting technique, unchanged over time, which we observe to the letter. The elegant decoration is composed of a halo of blue foliage that resembles four groups of wings: from the center of the plate, further ornamental elements develop, projected outwards, which give movement to the entire compositional structure. The beauty of these majolica plates is underlined by the artist's visible brushstrokes that give them a unique style. Further possibility to order a set of 4 or 12 charger...

Plate Bowl Centerpiece Tableware Platter Decorated Wall Dish Majolica Painted
By deBlona

This exclusive ceramic plate is handmade and hand-painted in Italy following the original Renaissance painting technique, unchanged over time, which we observe to the letter: it is decorated in majolica hand-painted in duotone of black and golden yellow, showing an elegant decorative motif of the Deruta tradition which is inspired by a tile found in a local church and suitably reworked in a modern key. The wide brim, with a raised edge and profiled with a finely painted modular ornament, is characterized by an extensive decorative border band where the traditional peacock feather motifs are represented, decorated with delicate shades of golden yellow shaded with cerium white. Naturalistic decorations are depicted inside the large cable, arranged in specular and radial symmetry which branches off from a central hexagonal element and articulates around the circumference, forming elegant golden yellow raceme motifs that stand out against a black background. Our majolica plate can be used as a fancy centerpiece or it can be hung as a decorative wall dish...
