About the Item

This stoneware dish designed by Tyra Lundgren for Rörstrand is a refined example of early Nordic modern ceramics. Executed in high-fired stoneware, the surface is finished with a softly modulated blue underglaze, into which a stylised female motif is integrated, giving the piece both decorative and sculptural presence. The impressed Rörstrand mark and date confirm the dish’s place within the factory’s artistic production of the period. Tyra Lundgren worked as a designer at Rörstrand during the late 1920s and early 1930s, a formative moment when the manufactory was increasingly engaged with modern, sculptural expressions in ceramics. Signed *TL Rörstrand 1930*, the dish stands as a well-preserved example of Lundgren’s contribution to Swedish ceramic design, combining material sensitivity with a restrained, modern idiom.
