About the Item

A late 19th century, French porcelain, crescent or half-moon shaped oyster plate, five pink blush oyster wells on a baby blue ground. Shown behind the main wells are the brown glazed backs of three oyster shells. Also shown are two smaller yellow and white clam or cockle shells. A rolled and scalloped rim with fluted edging. Marked with an impressed mold number. Book reference: Similar crescent shaped oyster plates are shown on Pgs. 70-74, “Oyster Plates,” Karsnitz Measures: 8.75 in. L x 7.75 in. W x 1 in. H Excellent antique condition.
