About the Item

A six-well Majolica glazed oyster plate by S. Fielding Co. Ltd., Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1878. Turquoise oyster wells surround a centre condiment well, all on a molded bed of chocolate brown seaweed. A deep yellow nautical rope border encircles the centre well and the outer rim. The verso is glazed in a watery ‘oyster grey’ with six raised scallop shell shaped feet. Reference: pg. 45, Karsnitz and pg. 29, Snyder Excellent antique condition, a light overall crazing.
