About the Item
This beautiful set of six Longchamp Terre de Fer asparagus plates is a delightful example of 19th century French Majolica craftsmanship. Made by the historic Longchamp faïencerie in Burgundy, each plate bears the impressed LONGCHAMP TERRE DE FER hallmark on the reverse, confirming its authentic origin and period production.
The plates feature raised asparagus spears in soft hand-painted shades of pale green, lavender, and warm brown, arranged across a gently scalloped oval form. The light green wash along the rim adds an elegant decorative touch and highlights the classic Longchamp aesthetic—refined, charming, and unmistakably French.
Perfect both for service and display, these plates retain a lovely glossy glaze and crisp molded details. Two plates show a small chip on the underside of the rim, discreet and invisible from the front. The remaining pieces are in very good antique condition with only minor wear consistent with age and use.
A rare and highly collectible Longchamp set, ideal for Majolica enthusiasts, French tableware lovers, or as a distinctive decorative accent in a Country-chic or Provençal interior.
