About the Item

This lovely set of seven creamware plates is decorated on the border with a band of brightly gilded leaves and berries within blue lines. The creamware has a rich, creamy color, which is complemented by the beautiful gilded border. The set consists of two dinner plates, four soup/pasta plates, and an oval serving platter. Dimensions: the dinner plates and the soup/pasta plates measure 9.5" in diameter, and the oval serving platter measures 12.5" x 9.5" Condition: Excellent with tiny original marks to the creamware and very minor wear to the gilt Price: $760 Background of English Creamware: Creamware is cream-colored, refined earthenware. It was created in the mid-1700s by the potters of Staffordshire, England. Foremost of the pioneers of creamware was Thomas Whieldon. He invented a wide variety of decorations for creamware.
