About the Item

With its unique features and meticulous attention to detail, this piece is a testament to the innovative vision and artistic sensibility of the Barovier Toso furnace. A highly sought-after plate from the 1980s with a light blue and aventurine background, handcrafted in the Murano furnaces. The plate is made of glass paste with a light blue background with gold flecks; it is medium in size and fills the center of the table very well. These shades are highly sought-after, and are very beautiful and characteristic of that period. Aventurine is a blue, dark red or brown glass that incorporates glittering particles, called stars. Due to its starry appearance, this type of object is also known as star paste. Those small particles are generated by the molten copper during the cooling of the glass paste. This type of glass dates back to the 17th century.
