About the Item

Midcentury jug and bowl in clear glass from the "Flora" series by Oiva Toikka. Designed 1966 for Nuutajärvi of Finland. The Flora series comprised a range of glassware, moulded from high quality Finnish glass with detailed irregular relief patterns of flowers and leaves. These items are both serving size (see below for approximate dimensions). They are in very good condition with no chips or cracks noted, just minor signs of age and use. The Flora range was produced for a short period from the late 1960s by Nuutajarvi; then reissued towards the end of the twentieth century under the Iittala brand. Both these items have their original Nuutajarvi labels. Approximate dimensions: Jug H 15.5cm x W 17.5cm (including handle) x D 11cm Bowl height 10cm x diameter 19.5cm Oiva Toikka, born 1931, is a Finnish artist and designer. He began his career at the Arabia ceramics factory and became art director at the Nuutajarvi glassworks in 1963. His works include Lollipop Isle in the collection of the Victoria Albert Museum, London.
