About the Item

14" silver leaf bowl Inspired by the Japanese concept of Shibusa—an aesthetic of simple, subtle, and unobtrusive beauty—the Botanical collection is meant to be minimal and yet Stand out at the same time. Made in America with the technique of glass bending, The Fern Bowl, a pattern first seen in Steuben Glass’ collection, and silver leaf bowl, are perfect wedding gifts, serving bowls, or centerpieces. We are proud to be producing them once again. We use only quality sustainable materials and partially recycled glass. All our products are dishwasher and microwave safe for gentle heating. Appropriate for everyday use, hospitality, and contract, applications. Dimensions: 14" Round Material: Partially recycled glass Judy Smilow spent her entire life around great design. Her glass designs have been included in numerous publications: “The Design Encyclopedia” by Mel Byars, published by MoMA, “Product Design 3” by Joe Dolce, Yale University Art Gallery’s recent publication “American Glass: The Collections at Yale” by John Stuart Gordon, and also the exhibition and publication “Design That Works” by Lloyd E. Herman. In 2012 Judy was an invited designer as part of the Glass Lab/ Corning Museum of Glass Program. Her designs are included in several museum collections including the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, and Yale University Art Gallery.

Michael Bang (1942-2013) Current And Advanced Glassmaking Art Michael Bang (1942-2013) was the son of Jacob E. Bang, Holmegaard's first designer. In the 1960s and 1970s, Michael Bang was a designer at the Odense Glass Factory, but moved with his family to Holmegaard in the 1980s when he joined the Holmegaard Glass Factory.
