Heading : Independent Order of Oddfellows engraved tumbler inscribed 1839 Period : Victoria Origin : England Colour : Clear Bowl : Bocket – engraved with numerous Oddfellows symbol including: all seeing eye, heart in hand, moon and stars, Paschal Lamb, beehive, crossed swords etc. Also Sarah Saidoff 1839 with garland. Petal cutting to base. Pontil : Broad polished Glass Type : Lead Size : 11.5cm height, 9.3cm diameter Condition : Excellent Restoration : None Weight: 280 grams The Independent Order of Oddfellows, a splinter group from the Free Masons and formed in Manchester in 1810. There was a propensity for the bretheren to be hard working and aspirational trades people or from the gentry but not the aristocracy.

This is a very good English "RUMMER" drinking glass, which were originally drinking glasses used in English taverns in the late 18th and early 19th century. The glass is handblown and made from lead glass, having a soft greyish colour.
