About the Item
We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects.
Exceptional hot-blown Murano glass goblet; it has a stem worked with the pincer molding technique and gold leaf decoration; the bowl and base are a soft, delicate pink color; the surface is not smooth but skillfully and masterfully wavy. From the mid-1400s, Murano glass masters invented the world's first truly transparent glass and refined their techniques to create delicate and subtle drinking vessels: the Murano glass wine glasses and goblets, which quickly became famous and desired throughout the world. The most famous goblets and wine glasses, called "tipetti," are elegant and capacious glasses with intricate stems, adorned with birds, animals, flowers, and fruits or gold leaf decorations. They became popular with European kingdoms during the Baroque period. As especially evidenced by the 16th-century fortune of the "tipetto," due in considerable part to Catherine De Medici, wife of French King Henry II of Valois from 1547 to 1559, regent herself from 1560 to 1563, called "queen mother" for having given birth to no fewer than three successive transalpine rulers, Francis II, Charles IX, and Henry III. A cultured and refined woman, she took care to introduce to her adopted land dishes and wines from the already sophisticated Italic cuisine, as well as just the elegant Murano goblets for libations, from then on indispensable elements in the most important court luncheons and dinners on an international scale. The Venetian "tipetto" is more than just a goblet; its centuries-old production process has remained unchanged in its essential stages despite the improvements of modern technology; it is a fragment of history that can give a set table that added value that only art can instill, and that is why they remain characteristic works of master glassmakers even today. The famous Flemish painter Osias Beert the Elder (1580-1624) often included "tipetto" goblets in his exceptional still life paintings, pictures preserved in the most important museums in Europe (see photo). Our "tipetto" was made completely by hand between 1970 and 1975 in a workshop on the island of Murano (VE). The goblet is in perfect condition. Measures diameter cm.9, height cm.26. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (custom-made wooden crates, polystyrene, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. We have two other goblets identical to this one that we sell in pairs (posted on 1stdibs)
Iconic and precious crystal chalice; it has been made from the highest quality lead crystal with a thickness that is thick enough to allow it to be ground deeper than normal, which allows the light to reflect in a much brighter and more brilliant manner; for this to happen, the geometry of the grinding has also been specially designed and executed. The glass is a delightful combination of intricate cuts and engravings and features some of the most beautiful motifs of the 18th and 19th centuries. Every detail of the decoration, such as the glittering star wheel, is cut entirely by hand, with hours of specialized labor required to complete each piece in the collection achieving a very high standard of quality. The glass was made in London, England, between 1995 and 1996 by the William Yeoward company, whose name it bears on the bottom (see photo), and is one of the most attractive designs in the "William Yeoward Crystal...
